Ambleside

Ambleside is a town in the historic county of Westmorland in north-west England. It is part of the administrative county of Cumbria and has a population of about 3,000.

Ambleside is situated at the head of Lake Windermere, England's largest lake. The town is within the Lake District National Park.

Steamers (in reality diesel-powered) run to Bowness and Lakeside offering fine views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Ambleside is a base for hiking and mountaineering and has a selection of hotels, guest houses, pubs and restaurants.
