American Pie (movie)

American Pie is a 1999 gross-out comedy film written by Adam Herz and directed by brothers Paul and Chris Weitz. Set in the fictional town of Great Falls, Michigan (based on Herz's hometown of Grand Rapids), the film tells the story of four male high school friends and the pact that they make to help one another lose their virginity before they graduate. The film was released in the United States on July 9, 1999, and grossed over $101 million during its U.S. theatrical run. It is followed by two sequels: American Pie 2 (2001), and American Wedding (2003).
