Battle of Edgehill

History -- Military history -- List of battles

The English Civil War battle of Edgehill (or "Edge Hill"), on October 23, 1642. King Charles I was marching his army from Nottingham to London, he trooped his army to London because of the shipping docks and also all of the armouries. if he captured London he would be able to arm more of his men and get more fresh supplies, when he encountered an army of 25,000 raised by Robert Devereux, 3rd Earl of Essex, but after a confused battle, both armies withdrew, leaving it a draw.
