Benny The Beaver

Benny The Beaver is the official mascot of Oregon State University first appeared in costume on September 18, 1952. He had been previously adopted and appeared in print in 1945. Ken Austin was the first student to appear in costume at an athletic event.

During the 1980s to the mid 1990s, Benny was often joined at sporting events by "Bernice Beaver", a female costumed mascot.

In 1999, the familiar smiling, gentle Benny visage was replaced with what is commonly referred to as the "Angry Beaver" logo and mascot.
