Big East Conference

The Big East Conference is a collegiate athletics conference consisting of fifteen universities, mostly in the northeastern United States:

Not all members are NCAA Division I-A teams -- some participate in the Division I-AA depending upon the sport.

Member schools participate in baseball, men's and women's basketball, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, lacrosse, women's rowing, men's and women's soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, and volleyball.

In 2004, Miami and Virginia Tech will leave the Big East for the ACC, while UConn will join the Big East in football. Temple's football program is scheduled to be expelled from the Big East due to chronic non-competitiveness and low home attendance.

In 2005, the conference will receive the following five schools from Conference USA:

In 2006, Boston College will leave the Big East, joining Miami and Virginia Tech in the ACC.
