Billy-Montigny

Billy-Montigny is a city of the northern France, in the département of Pas-de-Calais (zone 62). It belongs to agglomeration of Lens-Liévin (http://www.agglo-lenslievin.fr) which gathers 36 communes, is 250,000 inhabitants.

Population (1999): 8,449

History

The history of the area remains marked by mining catastrophes the known as one of Courrières which made 1099 dead on March 10, 1906 on the territories of Billy-Montigny, Méricourt and Sallaumines.
