The thin plot involves two women plotting to see which one would star in a new Broadway musical. The film starred Jack Benny, Eleanor Powell, Robert Taylor, Una Merkel, Buddy Ebsen and June Knight.

The film was written by Harry W. Conn, Moss Hart, Jack McGowan and Sid Silvers. It was directed by Roy Del Ruth.

The movie was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
