Cecil D. Andrus

Cecil D. Andrus (born 1931) is a United States Democratic Party politician. He was the governor of Idaho from 1971 until 1977 and from 1987 until 1995, and was elected a total of four times. He resigned in 1977 after being appointed by President Jimmy Carter to the position of United States Secretary of the Interior of the United States. He served in that position until the end of Carter's presidency in 1981. Andrus ended his time as governor in January 1995 with a high approval rating, and he did not run for reelection in 1994.
