Central Canada

Central Canada consists of the two most populous Canadian provinces, Ontario and Quebec.

These two provinces contain 62% of Canada's population, and currently have 178 of the 301 seats in the House of Commons. They are also the location of the headquarters of most national institutions and corporations in Canada. Thus these two provinces acting together can control the federal government and often impose their will on the rest of Canada.

Its political and cultural prominence makes the rest of Canada view Central Canada somewhat warily, as a hegemonizing force against which they must guard to protect their local culture and interests.
