Citium

Citium, also Kition, is the ancient city of modern day Larnaka in Cyprus. Originally a Phoenician colony, it later became a part of the Hellenistic world.

Zeno of Citium died at sea defending the city of Citium. His officers kept the news of his death secret. "Even in death he was victorious" was attributed to Zeno. A statue of Zeno of Citium stands proudly on the sea front promenade of Larnaka town.
