Colt Holding Corporation

Colt Holding Corporation is a firearms manufacturer, manufacturing many American weapons, including the M4 Carbine, the M16 Assault Rifle, the M203 Grenade Launcher, and the Colt SMG. Many variations of these weapons are also manufactured, including the Colt Commando. The company was started in 1845.

Besides these weapons, used mainly by military forces, Colt also manufactures law enforcement and civilian weapons. Police forces use mainly the M4 and the AR-15, while the commercially produced Colt weapons include its pistols and competition rifles. The most famous Colt pistol is most likely the M1911, which was used in World War I, and is still the main .45 caliber pistol of many law enforcement and military agencies today. Finally, Colt manufactures many revolvers (including its most famous, the Colt Peacemaker, and the modern Colt Python), and Colt revolvers were the main secondary weapon of the military between the Civil War and World War I, when it was replaced by the M1911.
