CONCACAF Gold Cup

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is the main national football competition of the CONCACAF nations. The participating nations are from North and Central America and from the Caribbean islands. From 1963 to 1989 the tournament was called CONCACAF Championship.

It was first held in 1963 and replaced the CCCF Championship (1941-61), which was for Central American and Caribbean nations only. In recent years the Gold Cup has also become a qualifying tournament for the Copa America.
