Culiacán

Culiacán is a coastal city in the state of Sinaloa, northwest Mexico. It is located north of Mazatlán.

Culiacán has a number of hotels as well as a small, jet airport, which can be reached flying on Aero California, Aeroméxico and Mexicana de Aviación.

In the 1990s, Culiacán gained fame for being the hometown of world boxing champion Julio César Chávez. Although a native of Tamaulipas state, José Luis Ramírez, another world boxing champion, also moved to Culiacán. And members of the Arellano-Félix family, long suspected of being among the largest drug traffickers in Mexico, also live in Culiacán (see Ramón Arellano Félix).
