Cyril Tourneur

Cyril Tourneur (~1575 - 1626) was an Elizabethan dramatist who enjoyed his greatest success during the reign of King James I of England.

His only well-known work is The Revenger's Tragedy (1607), a play which has alternatively been attributed to Thomas Middleton.

Tourneur is known to have worked on the Continent as an official courier and having been employed by Sir Edward Cecil. He died in Ireland after an unsuccessful raid on Cadiz.
