Darkthrone

Darkthrone is one of the earliest and most influential Norwegian Black metal bands. They began life as a Death metal band with the album Soulside Journey. Deciding that the death metal idiom was no longer relevant, they produced the album A Blaze in the Northern Sky. Although strongly inspired by the works of Bathory and Celtic Frost, this album brought punk-like simplicity and chaos to metal. Their further albums explored the themes of corrosive sound, abraded recording, and musical simplicity.
