David Arnold

David Arnold (born in 1962 in Luton, England) had his first taste of composing for film while working with his friend Danny Cannon on low-budget movies.

Arnold's score for Cannon's "The Young Americans" (1993) was well received, especially the orchestral arrangement on the Björk song "Play Dead" which also appeared on her first solo album, "Debut" (1993).

Arnold gained major exposure by composing the soundtracks to such blockbusters as the sci-fi thriller "Stargate" (1994), and "ID4: Independence Day" (1996).

Perhaps David Arnold's greatest achievement was his successful takeover of the James Bond soundtrack franchise from John Barry. Arnold was awarded the Ivor Novello Award for his soundtrack to "The World Is Not Enough" (1999).

Arnold has also managed to gain respect as a record producer. His James Bond tribute album entitled "Shaken and Stirred" features contemporary artists such as Pulp, Iggy Pop, and Chrissie Hynde singing their own versions of classic Bond theme songs. Instrumental tracks were provided by such artists as LTJ Bukem and Propellerheads whom Arnold has worked with extensively.
