Dixon is a city located nearly 30 miles from Sacramento, California, in Solano County. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 16,103. Other nearby cities include Vacaville, California, Winters, California and Davis, California.

\nDixon is located at 38°26'57" North, 121°49'37" West (38.449108, -121.826872)¹. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 17.3 km² (6.7 mi²). 17.1 km² (6.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.90% water.

\nAs of the census of 2000, there are 16,103 people, 5,073 households, and 4,164 families residing in the city. The population density is 939.2/km² (2,434.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 70.51% White, 1.93% African American, 0.99% Native American, 3.11% Asian, 0.30% Pacific Islander, 17.87% from other races, and 5.29% from two or more races. 33.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 5,073 households out of which 47.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.0% are married couples living together, 9.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.9% are non-families. 13.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.17 and the average family size is 3.45.
