Duxbury is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the town of Duxbury in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,426.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.8 km² (2.6 mi²). 5.6 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is land and 1.2 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 17.18% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,426 people, 499 households, and 415 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 253.7/km² (656.1/mi²). There are 567 housing units at an average density of 100.9 persons/km² (260.9 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 98.18% White, 0.07% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.84% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.35% from other races, and 0.42% from two or more races. 0.70% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 499 households out of which 40.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.4% are married couples living together, 4.4% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 16.8% are non-families. 14.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.86 and the average family size is 3.19.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 29.4% under the age of 18, 3.9% from 18 to 24, 20.9% from 25 to 44, 33.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 97.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.4 males.
