Farringdon station
Farringdon station is a London Underground and 'National Rail' station in Farringdon. It was originally called "Farringdon and High Holborn Station" and was the first tube station ever to be built in London and more importantly the world. It was opened in 1863 and the initial route ran from Farringdon to Paddington, a distance of 6 kilometers. The company that ran the line was the Metropolitan Railway Company.It is on the Metropolitan, Hammersmith and City and Circle lines, between Kings Cross St Pancras and Barbican. The station serves Thameslink trains which run from Brighton to Bedford, stopping off at Gatwick airport along the way. It is in zone 1.
