Fatima Jinnah

Fatima Jinnah (Madr-e-Millat [Mother of the Nation]) (1893 - 1967) was the sister of Pakistan's first governor-general, Muhammed Ali Jinnah. After their father's death (1901), Muhammed became her legal guardian. She was enrolled in a dental college, in Calcutta, in 1919 and opened a Bombay clinic in 1923. Fatima attended the Muslim League session of 1937 and sessions from 1940 onwards. In the mid-1960s, she was a notable political opponent of Field Marshal Khan. She is buried within her brothers mausoleum, in Karachi.
