Final Flight of the Osiris

"Final Flight of the Osiris" is one of nine short films in The Animatrix series that reveals more about the world of The Matrix. It was written by the Wachowski brothers and directed by Andy Jones, with CG-animation production and design by Square USA, INC.

Plot

The hovercraft the Osiris mark VI number 16 built in 2079 is headed for junction 21 when Bobby the operator picks up thousands of sentinels on his hr scans. Running from a group of them headed towards the ship, the ship heads into an uncharted tunnel, which leads them to the surface. 4 kilometers straight above Zion they see the tunneling machines and sentinel army first hand. The captain Thaddeus decides Zion must be warned, and his shipmate Jue volunteers to broadcast herself into the Matrix to make a drop while the ship is under attack. Jue finally manages to drop off the information while the ship is overcome by sentinels and crash-lands. Thaddeus makes a vain attempt to hold off the sentinels; however, their attack on the Osiris (e.g., tearing off the repulsor pods on the hovercraft, causing arcing) causes the whole ship to blow up into pieces. The final scene occurs when a cellphone that Jue was using drops and Jue also drop dead close by.
