Fitzrovia

The area of London known as Fitzrovia is bounded on the east by the Tottenham Court Road and on the south by Oxford Street and is thus just north of Soho. The region gaines it's name from the Fitzroy Tavern in Charlotte Street in which artists, writers and other Bohemians used to frequent in the 1930s

The area was first developed in the 18th century by the hon. Charles Fitzroy - later Lord Southampton who purchesed the Manor of Totenhall and built Fitzroy Square to which he gave his name.
