George Pickett

George Edward Pickett (January 25, 1825 - July 30 1876) was a major-general in the army of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. At the Battle of Fredericksburg, his men cut down the famous "Irish brigade". He led the gallant but disastrous "Pickett's Charge" against Union lines in the Battle of Gettysburg. He was also involved in the Pig War.

He was born in Richmond, Virginia and died in Norfolk, Virginia.
