Hammer and sickle

The hammer and sickle is a symbol used to represent Communism and Communist political parties.

It features a large sickle superimposed on a hammer. The two tools were chosen as symbols of the working class, symbolising the unity between the agricultural and industrial workers. The hammer and sickle featured prominently on the flags of the Soviet Union and on the flags of some Communist Parties.
