Hayley Wickenheiser

Hayley Wickenheiser (b. August 12, 1978, in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Canada) is one of the best players of the female Canadian ice hockey team. She has been a member of the Canadian National team since 1995, winning the silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games, and the gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. In the gold medal game in 2002, she scored Canada's winning goal in a 3-2 victory over the United States team. In January 2003, she joined the Kirkkonummi Salamat, a men's team in Finland making history by becoming the first female to ever score a point in a male professional hockey league. She played her last game in their ranks in the Suomi-sarja league on November 12 2003, and returned to Calgary awaiting new challenges.

A versatile athlete, at the 2000 Summer Olympics, she also played for Canada's women's softball team.
