Idrisi

al-Idrisi (born 1100 - died 1166) actually Abu Abd Allah Muhammad al-Idrisi - Arab cartographer, geographer and traveller who lived in Sicily, at king Roger II's court. In 1154 al-Idrisi made a big, south-oriented mappae mundi called Tabula Idrisiana (or Tabula Rogeriana). His relations aren't an exactly perfect historical source, because probably he didn't visit all the countries he describes in his book(which was also a sort of a comment to the map), Geography: e.g. writing about Poland he has mistaken it with Czech, because he wrote about "a country sorrounded by mountains".
