Isildur

In J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy universe of Middle-earth, Isildur was a Dúnadan of Numenor, elder son of Elendil. In his youth Isildur stole a fruit of Nimloth before it was cut down, preserving the line of the White Tree, and later planted a seedling in the new city of Minas Anor. After Gil-galad and Elendil fought and defeated Sauron at the Siege of Barad-dûr, but perished, Isildur cut The One Ring from Sauron's finger. He was later slain in the Gladden Fields by roaming orcs and the Ring's treachery.

In the riddling rhyme "Seek for the Sword that was Broken" the Ring is referred to cryptically as Isildur's Bane.
