John Frankenheimer

John Frankenheimer (born February 19, 1930 in New York, died July 6, 2002 in Los Angeles, California) was an American film director. After directing documentaries for the Air Force and then directing live television (152 shows from 1954-1960), Frankenheimer directed The Manchurian Candidate, ranked by the American Film Institute as #67 on its list of 100 greatest American films and #17 on its list of 100 greatest American thrillers.

A film that draws on both left-wing and right-wing paranoia, The Manchurian Candidate stars Angela Lansbury, Frank Sinatra and Lawrence Harvey.
