Juhan Parts

Juhan Parts is an Estonian politician, Prime Minister, and leader of the Res Publica party.

He was born on 27 August 1966 in Tallinn, Estonia, and graduated from Tallinn Secondary School No. 1 in the old town (the present Gustav Adolf Upper Secondary School) and decided to continue his studies at the University of Tartu in the Faculty of Law.

In spring 1998, the President of the Republic Lennart Meri made a proposal to Juhan Parts to take up the office of Auditor General and he held this office until 2002. While in office, he criticized the government and became a popular figure.

After the Riigikogu (Parliament) elections in 2003, the President of the Republic Arnold Rüütel made a proposal to Juhan Parts to form a new government. The new government took office on 10 April 2003, by swearing an oath of office before the Riigikogu and Juhan Parts became the Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia.
