Kongsberg Gruppen
Kongsberg Gruppen (Oslo Stock Exchange: KOG) is Norway's major defence contractor and maritime automation supplier, located in Kongsberg. Number of employees (2002): 4200. The company was established in 1814 as Kongsberg Vaabenfabrik, a name it held until 1987, when following a financial crisis and sale of all civilian activities it reformed under the name Norsk Forsvarsteknologi AS (NFT). The company was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in 1993, and changed its name to Kongsberg Gruppen (lit.: The Kongsberg Group) in 1995.KOG is divided into two operating companies, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) and Kongsberg Maritime.
