Lamech

In the Book of Genesis, Lamech is the name of two men.

• In Genesis 4:18-24, Lamech is the son of Methushael and a descendant of Cain. He is the first man mentioned in the Bible who has more than one wife, he has two, Adah and Zillah. By Adah he is the father of Jabal and Jubal, and by Zillah he is the father of Tubal-Cain and Naamah.
• In Genesis 5:25-26, 28-31, Lamech is the first son of Methuselah and the father of Noah. He lived to be 777 years old, and in Luke 3:36 is listed as an ancestor of Jesus Christ.
