The London Borough of Hackney is a London borough in the northeast of inner London. It is one of the poorest boroughs but home to numerous clubs and a centre of the London arts scene.

Demographics of Hackney

The 2001 census gives Hackney a population of 202,824. It is 60% white, 12% black African, 10% Black Caribbean and 4% Indian. 32% of householders are owner-occupiers.

Transport links

Hackney is the only inner London borough north of the Thames that currently has no London Undergound stations. However a current project to extend the East London Line will seek to rectify this.
