Markland

Markland is the name given to an area of undisclosed location, named by Leif Ericsson when visiting North America. Markland, for "treeland", is known to be north of Vinland and south of Helluland. It is generally believed to be in Labrador; Newfoundland may have either been Vinland or part of Markland (see Vinland). Ericsson's crew cut down trees and took them to Greenland, because Greenland has very few trees.
