Maurice Scully

Maurice Scully (born 1952) is an Irish poet and editor who works in what might be termed the modernist tradition.

Scully was born in Dublin and educated at Trinity College, where he edited the student literary magazine, Icarus. He has lived in Italy and Africa.

His books include Love Poems & Others (1981), Five Freedoms of Movement (1987, revised edition 1000), Steps (1998) and Livelihood: Collected Poems 1981-2001 (due 2004). He founded and edited two literary journals, The Belle and The Beau. He ran Coelocanth Press and organised a series of readings and events under that banner in the mid 1980s.

Scully is currently poet-in-residence for North Tipperary.
