Miami Screaming Eagles

The Miami Screaming Eagles were Miami’s first attempt at a professional hockey team. The team was owned by a businessman named Herb Martin. His team was the first to take players from NHL clubs, such as Bernie Parent from the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also signed Boston Bruins standout Derek Sanderson. But the team could not find an arena to play in and ran out of money from the signings, so it moved to Philadelphia and became the Philadelphia Blazers. But now Miami has the NHL’s Florida Panthers, who played in the Stanley Cup finals once but lost to the Colorado Avalanche.
