Mick Jones

Mick Jones was in the music group The Clash and played guitar and sang, but was not generally the lead singer, who was Joe Strummer. Jones generally wrote the tunes, Strummer the lyrics, and Jones was indisputably the better musician. He was briefly in the band General Public. He later formed the bands Big Audio Dynamite and Big Audio Dynamite II, in which he was the lead singer. He has become an occasional producer, and in late 2002/early 2003 was at the controls for the debut of London band The Libertines whose Clash influence (as well as that of other quentessentially English bands like the Kinks was clear. The CD was critically well-received, and Jones appeared to enjoy the success of his proteges.
