Mike DeWine (born 1947) is an American politician from Ohio, where he was born and lived until he was elected to Congress. He was a lawyer before entering politics, serving a term in the Ohio state Senate before being elected to the United States House of Representatives as a member of the Republican Party in 1982. He was reelected in 1984, 1986 and 1988. In 1990 he left the House and was elected lieutenant governor of Ohio, and served in that position from 1991 to 1995. He was then elected to the United States senate in the election of 1994, and was reelected in 2000. He is still a senator.
