Morning Edition

Morning Edition is an American radio news program produced and distributed by National Public Radio (NPR). Based in Washington, DC, it premiered on November 5, 1979. The show runs for two hours and airs weekday mornings, Monday-Friday.

A typical show includes news, both newscasts and in-depth reports; features on science, arts, business, sports, and politics; interviews with and profiles of people in the news; commentaries; and human interest features.

Bob Edwards, previously a host on All Things Considered, has hosted Morning Edition since the first episode. Ellen McDonnell is the Executive Producer.

Arbitron ratings show that over 8 million people listen to Morning Edition each day.

In 2000, Morning Edition received the George Foster Peabody Award.
