Omoikane

Omoikane(思兼) is a Shinto god of knowledge. His name means "serving one's thoughts."

See also: Amaterasu

In the anime series, Nadesico, Omoikane(思兼) is the computer of the Mobile Ship Nadesico. It was named after the god Omoikane.

In Episode 12, Ruri and Akito save Omoikane and stop it from attacking the UEF, and we see that Omoikane likes "Gekigangar" as well. It looks like a tree in the virtual landscape.

The phrase "重い鐘", which has the same pronunciation "Omoi-kane", means "Heavy bell". This meaning is also important in the anime series Nadesico.

You can see the Kanji descriptions and translations for omoi and kane (as used in kaneru.) I think this reading is a more accurate one.

Omoikane is a Linux distribution which was named after the god Omoikane.
