Ontario provincial highway 33

Ontario Provincial Highway #33 is a provincially maintained highway in Eastern Ontario, Canada.

Highway 33 currently runs from the Ontario Provincial Highway 62 junction in Bloomfield, Prince Edward County to the Collins Bay Rd. Junction at Collins Bay in the City of Kingston.

Highway 33 is part of the Heritage Highway and part of the Loyalist Parkway

Highway 33 has 2 sections, which are seperated by the Glenora Ferry. The Glenora Ferry crosses from Glenora, Ontario to Adolphustown, Ontario across the Bay of Quinte.

Highway 33 travels through Bloomfield, Warings Corner, Picton, Glenora, Adolphustown, Conway, Sandhurst Shores, Sandhurst, Bath, Millhaven, Bayview, Amherstview, and Collins Bay.
Highway 33 travels through the following municipalities: Prince Edward County, Greater Napanee, Loyalist Township and Kingston.
Highway 33 travels through the following counties: Prince Edward County, Lennox and Addington, and Frontenac.

History

Highway 33 was created on July 9, 1930 and ran from Stirling, Ontario to Trenton, Ontario. The highway was extended on Apirl 11th, 1934 to Carrying Place, Ontario, then on July 4th, 1934 to Glenora, Ontario and from Amherstview, Ontario to Kingston, Ontario, then on July 11th, 1934 from Adolphustown, Ontario to Amherstview, Ontario. In 1935, Highway 33 was paved from Frankford, Ontario to Carrying Place, Ontario, and from Wellington, Ontario to Picton, Ontario. In 1936, Highway 33 was paved from Bath, Ontario to Kingston, Ontario. In 1939, Highway 33 was paved from Picton, Ontario to Bath, Ontario, from Frankford, Ontario to Stirling, Ontario, and from Carrying Place, Ontario to Consecon, Ontario. Finally, in 1940 Highway 33 was paved from Consecon to Wellington. On April 1st, 1996 Highway 33 was downloaded from Collins Bay, Ontario to Kingston, Ontario. On April 1st, 1997 Highway 33 was dowloaded from Trenton, Ontario to Stirling, Ontario. On April 1st, 1998 Highway 33 was downloaded from Trenton, Ontario to Bloomfield, Ontario.
