Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom (born January 13, 1977) is an English actor.

He was born in Canterbury, England, the son of novelist and political activist, Harry Bloom. Orlando was named after the leading character in the novel by Virginia Woolf and is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He made his film debut in 1997 in Wilde, opposite Stephen Fry. Shortly afterwards, he was seriously injured in a fall, and it was briefly feared that he would never walk again, but he made a complete recovery.

His first major role (he was still in drama school during the casting) was in the movie version of The Lord of the Rings (2001-2003), where he played Legolas. He has also had a part in Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down (2002) and "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003).
