Pag

Pag is an island in northern Adriatic Sea, off the coast of Croatia. The largest town in the central part of the island is also named Pag; there is another town to the north called Novalja.

Pag was a concentration camp set up by the Croat Ustaše puppet regime in World War II. It held about 8,500 people: 4,500 Serbs, 2,500 Jews, and 1,500 Communists. When the Ustase learned that the island of Pag was to be transferred to Italian control (in 1941) they killed all of the prisonners.
