Paul Oakenfold

Paul Oakenfold (born August 30, 1963) is a British DJ and record producer, known for his popularity among mainstream audiences. By the early 1980s, Oakenfold had managed Run D.M.C and the Beastie Boys. In 1987, Oakenfold and his friends, Trevor Fung and Ian St. Paul, began listening to club-music from Ibiza, Spain (see 1987 in music). Using influences from Ibiza's sound, Italian disco, soul and house. Oakenfold produced the Happy Mondays' Pills 'n' Thrills 'n' Bellyaches, followed by U2, Massive Attack, Arrested Development, the Cure, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Simply Red, New Order and the Shamen, many on Perfecto Records, his own label.

Oakenfold was famous throughout Britain in the mid-1990s, but began to concentrate on building a US audience. However, he has only achieved modest mainstream success in the US. In 2002, Paul Oakenfold released the first solo album, called Bunkka featuring some artists like Nelly Furtado and the lead singer of Crazy Town.
