Paula Radcliffe

Paula Jane Radcliffe is one of Britain's greatest distance runners. She was born December 17, 1973 in Northwich, Cheshire, and studied modern languages at Loughborough University. She broke the world record for the marathon during the London Marathon on April 13, 2003, running it in 2:15.25.

She was awarded an MBE in June 2002, and later in the year became the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
