Philip Livingston

Philip Livingston (January 15, 1716 - June 12, 1778), was a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence as a representative of New York.

He was born in Albany, New York and graduated Yale College in 1737. He became a successful merchant in New York, and became an alderman. He attended the Colonial Convention at Albany in 1754, and was selected as a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1776, strongly favoring independence. After the adoption of the new New York State Constitution, he was elected to the state Senate. He died suddenly, at York, Pennsylvania.
