Place de la Bastille

The Place de la Bastille is a square in Paris where the Bastille prison stood until it was torn down between July 14, 1789 and July 14, 1790 duirng the French Revolution.

At the centre of the square is the July Column which commemorates the events of the revoltuion. On the square there is also L'Opera Bastille and the Bastille Subway Sation. The square is a popular venue for Parisians and tourists, and it is often home to concerts and other such events.
