Salman Khan

One of the reigning superstars of Bollywood, Salman khan is the king of controversy in the Hindi film industry. Whether it was his emptying a bottle of cola in his girl friend's head or shooting the protected black bucks or the recent hit-and-run case in which four people lost their lives, Salman always provided ample feeds to the Mumbai tabloids, even though his relationship with press was always rocky. Salman Khan made his debut through "Biwi Ho to Aisi" in 1988 in which he played a supporting role which went largely unnoticed. But it was "Maine Pyar Kiya", produced by RajShri Productions which was released in 1989, which catapulted him into stardom. The movie was one of the biggest blockbusters of the Hindi film industry and Salman became a star overnight. His chiselled face, romantic eyes and masculine physique made him the hearthrob of Indian youth and teenagers alike. Nevertheless, most of the movies that followed his first hit bombed in the box office and Salman was going through very bad face again. Saajan, released in 1991, a musical which says a triangular love story was his next major hit and gave much awaited relief to his the then troubled career. But it was "Hum Aapke hain Kaun" which was released in 1994, again produced by the same team which turned him into a star overnight that again brought him back to the limelight. The soft romantic character that he played in that movie brought him acceptance in the family circles. In the years followed, Salman re-established himself as an action hero doing action roles mixed with light comedy. The movies released in the latter half of 90's saw him appearing increasingly without shirt, showing his well toned torso. Also it is said that People's magazine chose him as one of the sexiest man alive along with many Hollywood stars. Just like most of the other male stars in Bollywood, Salman with his mediocre histrionics made it big with his good looks and strong industry relationships, thanks to his father Salim Khan who was a story writer of yesteryears.
