Sapindales

The Sapindales are an order of flowering plants, included among the rosid subgroup of dicotyledons. The following families are typical of newer classifications:

Under the older Cronquist system, some of the Sapindaceae were placed in separate families Aceraceae and Hippocastanaceae, and the following families were added to the order:

  • Family Staphyleaceae
  • Family Melianthaceae
  • Family Bretschneideraceae
  • Family Akaniaceae
  • Family Julianiaceae
  • Family Cneoraceae
  • Family Zygophyllaceae

The Nitrariaceae were included within the Zygophyllaceae, and the Kirkiaceae within the Simaroubaceae.
