Spawn

In first-person shooters, and also some other video games, spawning is the creation of a player's avatar in the game. This occurs at the beginning of the round or immediately after being killed. Most games have "spawn points" scattered throughout the map, though in levels designed for team play, there may simply be two areas, one for each team.

Spawn is a comic book from Todd McFarlane Productions. The main character, Al Simmons, is lured by the devil, Malebolgia at the moment of death. He later returns to earth in the form of 'Spawn' - a Hellspawn.

There has also been a movie release, a cartoon and a plethera of toys based on this character.
