Stand By Me is a coming of age film set in the 1950s. The four main characters, Gordie Lachance and his three friends Chris Chambers, Teddy Duchamp, and Vern Tessio, are twelve-year-old boys who set out to find the body of a missing peer who they suspect (correctly) was hit by a train.

The film stars Wil Wheaton as Gordie LaChance, River Phoenix as Chris Chambers, Corey Feldman as Teddy DuChamp, Jerry O'Connell as Vern Tessio, and Kiefer Sutherland as Ace Merrill, and Richard Dreyfuss. It was nominated for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium at the 1987 Academy Awards and Best Director and Best Motion Picture - Drama at the 1987 Golden Globe awards.
